8. To whom would you give the best job in the world?

There will be a number of times on your entrepreneurial journey when you confront the need to take decisions that will fundamentally influence the development of the business and your relationship with it. If only you could always tell when those times were!

Decisions about how you plan to replace yourself, and other early players in your business, mark such a time. Facing up to the possibility of handing over responsibility for your creation is difficult enough. Actually doing it is harder still, especially as you will probably be looking for people with skills different to your own, reflecting the different stage of development the business has reached.

On top of that, any successor, be they new to the business or long-established within it, will have a different relationship to it than yours. Start thinking succession early - and never stop.
