4. Keep testing the water
If you can network, you will open up opportunities. Good networkers build relationships, not because of what they can see but because of what they can't.
They make connections that may seem to go nowhere, because they know that they might. They ask open questions and make half-baked suggestions to see where others might take an idea. Over time, they develop a sixth sense about which relationships are worth investing in and which are not.
